Europe’s Best Airport: Istanbul Airport Earns Top Ranking in 2021
Istanbul Airport, Turkey’s modern airport, has been awarded as the best airport by the Airports Council International (ACI) Europe in the category for airports with over 40 million passengers. The award was shared with Rome Fiumicino Airport, last year’s winner. Istanbul Airport served more than 76 million passengers last year, with plans to increase its capacity to 120 million by 2025. The airport was recognized for its sustainability efforts, including plans for a solar power plant. ACI Europe praised Istanbul Airport for its growth, operational performance, and innovation, making it a competitive hub attracting more passengers and airlines. In the 25-40 million passengers category, Oslo Airport was named the best airport in Europe for its operational and punctuality performance.
