Erdoğan praises Türkiye’s latest medium-term roadmap
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has given his full support to Türkiye’s updated medium-term program (MTP), which provides a three-year outlook on macro policy and key economic data. The government is committed to combatting inflation and prioritizing investment, production, employment, exports, and economic growth, with a focus on boosting agriculture, industry, tourism, and other sectors.
Erdoğan affirmed his confidence in the MTP, emphasizing the government’s dedication to enhancing prosperity among citizens and ensuring the sustainability of the Turkish economy for future generations. The medium-term program, introduced last September, aims at implementing structural reforms to control inflation and achieve sustainable growth.
Despite a slower-than-expected growth rate in the second quarter, Türkiye’s economy expanded by 2.5% on an annual basis. Following last year’s elections, the government shifted its economic policy, leading the Turkish central bank to raise its benchmark rate significantly to curb inflation. The MTP reflects these changes and outlines a strategy for economic development moving forward.
